Continuing along the path that has always defined us, the members of GEN-SM are promoting dialogue among the youth wings of all political parties, with the aim of showing that the slogan “young people united beyond affiliations” is not a sensationalist catchphrase, but the real operational direction of our youth movement — one that acts in the interest of those it represents, in the conviction that San Marino’s young people are the most strategic resource the country possesses.
Today, it is easy for many young people, dissatisfied with the opportunities our Republic offers, to consider continuing their lives in another country capable of guaranteeing greater opportunities for professional and personal growth.
Yet a State cannot survive without a strong youth component to renew it and care for it. The future of our country depends on having people capable of building that very future.
This reality, however, is too often ignored by those who carelessly “wage war on young people,” resorting to generalizations and offensive language against an entire generation — one made up, above all, of willing individuals who care deeply about their country and who find in these accusations a source of discouragement and anger.
Such hostility, however, has not hindered the work of the youth wings of San Marino’s various parties, which came together at GEN-SM’s new headquarters. Among the many topics discussed, particular emphasis was placed on education, training, job and entrepreneurial opportunities for the new generations, housing, rents, and the issue of declining birth rates. Much was also said about the relationship between young people, social media, and artificial intelligence.
These issues, beyond the political colors that may distinguish each youth movement, are of primary importance to San Marino’s new generations, and they represent common ground where individual differences give way to cross-party collaboration driven by a shared concern for the future ahead.
The goal of this first meeting, in fact, was not simply to exchange views on these topics, but to lay the foundations for cooperation among youth political forces — one aimed at identifying and addressing the needs of those we represent, working together for the common good of the new generations.
