Democrats have won the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the United States midterm elections. According to CNN, Democrats reached 218 seats in the House, enough to secure control of the chamber.
Democrats also claimed victories in Texas and Kansas, two traditional Republican strongholds. In Michigan, media projections indicate that Democrat Abdul El-Sayed has won the Senate race.
Donald Trump followed the vote count from the White House and said he would accept the results. “My message is: congratulations to the Democrats, we look forward to working with you,” the president said. During the count, he wrote on X: “If my name had been on the ballot, I would have won in a landslide.”
Former President Barack Obama also weighed in on the vote. “Americans have sent a clear message: they want a politics that unites rather than divides, and leaders capable of offering real solutions.”
