San Marino’s women’s national team will face Luxembourg, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Estonia in its first-ever participation in the UEFA Women’s Nations League, set to kick off in February 2027.
The draw, held today at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, placed the Titans in Group 4 of League C. Head coach Giulia Domenichetti attended the ceremony, as she prepares to lead the blue-and-white side through this historic debut.
All three opponents are already familiar to San Marino’s women’s football setup, having previously faced the Titan’s youth national teams. It was against Estonia, in fact, that a San Marino women’s national team recorded its first-ever official victory, when the Under-16 side triumphed in a home tournament.
For Domenichetti, facing more experienced sides will above all serve as a benchmark to measure the progress made over the past year of preparation.
“One thing is objective: they are further along than us in this journey, but we will compete to the best of our ability, focusing not just on the individual match but on our overall growth path,” the coach explained, stressing the need to proceed step by step.
San Marino was the last team drawn from the League C pot — an outcome that satisfies Domenichetti, who is well aware of the challenges awaiting her squad in its first major international experience.
“We know every match will be tough, especially since this is our very first experience at this level. But overall, I can say I’m happy with the group,” she commented.
The ceremony also marked a moment of recognition for women’s football in San Marino. Nadine Kessler, UEFA’s Director of Women’s Football, extended an official welcome to San Marino, which joins the competition in an edition featuring all 54 European federations for the first time.
“It was truly a great emotion to be present at an event that represents another historic milestone for women’s football in San Marino,” Domenichetti said.
The specific fixtures and match dates have yet to be determined. The group stage will be played across three windows: 23 February to 6 March, 13 to 24 April, and 7 to 15 June 2027.
Any promotion and relegation play-offs are scheduled for 4 to 12 October.
