Folgore alone at the top as Pancotti scores sixth straight win

A brace from Pancotti on set pieces lifts Folgore past Libertas, while Tre Penne stumble and La Fiorita are held by Faetano.

Folgore won again and remain alone at the top of the San Marino Championship. The 2-1 victory over Libertas, their sixth in as many matchdays, allowed Ricci’s side to pull away from Tre Penne, who were held to a goalless draw.

The decisive factor was a Pancotti brace from set pieces. After a balanced first half, the forward broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with a free kick and doubled the lead less than four minutes later from the penalty spot, converting the kick awarded for a contact between Vandi and Pierri.

Libertas responded and struck the underside of the crossbar with a shot-cross from Socciarelli. Folgore had a possible third goal ruled out for offside against Tampellini and squandered further chances to seal the match.

Socciarelli pulled one back late on, finishing off an assist from Grieco. In the 90th minute, Tampellini again missed out on a third goal, denied by Foiera in a one-on-one, but the league leaders held on to their advantage until the final whistle.

Meanwhile, La Fiorita slowed down, held to a 0-0 draw by Faetano and slipping to sixth place, eight points off the top. The Montegiardino side created numerous chances but found Venturini in inspired form, particularly against attempts from Semprini and Bonetti.

In the second half, Faetano responded through Elia, who was first denied by Zavoli and then by a crucial intervention from Cicarelli protecting his goal. La Fiorita pushed forward again, but Semprini struck the crossbar with a header and Mularoni came close to scoring deep into stoppage time.

For Faetano, it was their third point of the season, enough to leave bottom place to San Marino Academy. Their first win, however, remains elusive.
