The three-day event dedicated to the flavours of Titano kicks off today with the “San Marino nel piatto” contest at 6pm, where four local restaurants will interpret surprise local products live. Events continue through Sunday across the City and Borgo Maggiore.
The event “Dal Turista al Contadino” (“From Tourist to Farmer”) begins today, Friday 4 September, launching three days that will turn the Historic Centre and Borgo Maggiore into a widespread showcase dedicated to Sammarinese agricultural products. The initiative is part of the “Dalla Terra alla Tavola” (“From Land to Table”) programme and is organised by the Secretariat of State for Territory, Environment and Agriculture together with the Consorzio Terra di San Marino and USOT, with the support of the Castle Councils (Giunte di Castello) of the City and Borgo Maggiore.
Things kick off at 6pm in Piazza Sant’Agata with “San Marino nel piatto” (“San Marino on the Plate”), the live cooking contest that forms the heart of the opening day: four local restaurants, Cesare, La Terrazza, Brace da Donati and InPerfetto, will have two hours to work with a selection of local products — delivered as a surprise — and turn them into an original dish. The creations will be judged by a panel of culinary experts and journalists, whose members will be revealed live in the square. A tasting dinner open to residents and visitors will follow.
The goal, explains Secretary of State Matteo Ciacci, is to bring producers, restaurateurs, residents and visitors together around the same table: “We want to turn the quality of our produce into an experience that tells the story of San Marino while also offering concrete support to those who work and invest in our land.” Agriculture, he adds, is not just about production — it is “about territory, identity, landscape protection and culture.”
The event continues on Saturday 5 with tastings, workshops and special menus at participating venues, before wrapping up on Sunday 6 in Borgo Maggiore, where at 5.30pm the new “Dalla Terra alla Tavola” venue, the Campo della Fiera lift, and the historic Cantinette — reopening after years of closure — will be officially inaugurated. The celebrations continue at 8pm with a DJ set inside the cable car cabin, courtesy of Dragon Valley, and from 10pm with live music in Piazza Grande.
