Storms, some potentially violent, strong winds and possible disruption across the territory. An orange weather alert has been issued for Romagna and San Marino as conditions are set to worsen between today, Wednesday 9 September, and tomorrow, Thursday 10.
According to the Emilia-Romagna Civil Protection agency, storms of considerable intensity are expected from the latter part of today, potentially causing damage. Wind is also a major concern: during the most intense phenomena, gusts could reach speeds of between 89 and 102 kilometres per hour, particularly in the central-eastern lowlands and along the coast.
The disturbances are expected to ease by evening, but the bad weather will return on Thursday, bringing further storms that could be locally severe, with the highest likelihood in the western Apennine areas and the central-eastern sector.
A yellow alert has also been issued for hydraulic and hydrogeological risk. In areas hit by the heaviest downpours, there could be surface runoff, erosion, rapid rises in minor waterways and landslides on the most vulnerable slopes.
