Councillor Gerardo Giovagnoli, head of San Marino’s Council delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), is taking part today, 10 September, in Paris, in the work of the Committee on Social Affairs, Health and Sustainable Development.
The meeting’s agenda includes numerous topics. “During the session, discussions will focus on issues such as recognition of the right to a healthy environment, the democratisation of the economy, and safeguarding gender equality in the face of growing climate disruption,” reads a statement from the Institutional Secretariat. Also at the centre of debate are family policies and demographic renewal, alongside the goal of achieving a coherent European policy on veterans.
On these latter subjects, the Committee will examine the respective draft reports and proceed “to the adoption of draft resolutions and recommendations”. Room will also be made for tackling global warming, addressed as a matter of human and democratic responsibility, through the examination of an introductory memorandum.
During the proceedings, the “Guide to health literacy: helping to build trust and equitable access to healthcare” and a “Guide for Parliamentarians on the European Social Charter” will also be presented.
Finally, the Committee will need to appoint rapporteurs on two issues: “the need to end the unlawful detention of Palestinian minors by Israel” and the prevention and combating of vicarious violence, addressed as a form of gender-based violence against women.
