Improving the organisation of public healthcare, managing staff more effectively and making better use of available resources. These are the goals of the “Management for improvement” training course, promoted by the Executive Committee of the Institute for Social Security of San Marino (Istituto per la Sicurezza Sociale, ISS) and concluded in recent days.
The programme, launched in February and aimed at professionals in positions of responsibility within healthcare facilities, included more than 50 hours of training through lectures, workshops, field activities and mentoring.
At the heart of the programme were healthcare service management, team coordination, staff organisation, quality control and resource planning. Participants also developed four improvement projects, based on concrete needs identified together with the ISS Health Directorate.
The initiative complements the Institute’s annual training programme and aims to equip facility managers with practical tools to organise work, evaluate outcomes and improve the services offered to citizens.
According to Secretary of State for Health Massimo Andrea Ugolini, investing in the training of managers means making the public healthcare system better equipped to handle change. The quality of care, he stressed, also depends on the ability to plan activities, collaborate and make proper use of resources.
Alessandro Bertolini, Director of Health and Social-Health Activities at the ISS, echoed this view, highlighting the concrete value of the course: participants worked on real organisational challenges, turning the skills they acquired into proposals to improve the functioning of healthcare facilities and services.
