UNICEF Italia has commented on the appointment of Lorenzo Zurino as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of San Marino to New Zealand. Extending his congratulations to the new diplomatic representative was the organization’s president, Nicola Graziano, who took the opportunity to highlight the importance of children’s and adolescents’ rights.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to Lorenzo Zurino, entrepreneur and member of UNICEF Italia’s Board of Directors, on his appointment as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of San Marino to New Zealand,” Graziano stated.
The UNICEF Italia president then turned to Zurino’s new role: “I am confident that, drawing on his experience and sensitivity, Lorenzo will use this new appointment to pay particular attention to the Rights of Children and Adolescents.”
The message also touched on the international situation and the hardships affecting millions of minors worldwide. “Childhood today is marked by ever-greater challenges: conflicts, wars, poverty, climate change. More than half of the world’s children suffer some form of violence every year, and nearly all of the world’s children are now exposed to at least one climate-related risk, such as floods, droughts, storms or heatwaves. These figures should make us reflect on how important it is for each of us to work toward ensuring every child, wherever they may be, has the best possible life.”
A Campania-born entrepreneur, Zurino is the founder and CEO of The One Company, a firm specializing in business internationalization. He also serves as chairman of the organizing committee of the IEF – Italian Export Forum and as chairman of Virgo Holding. Since November 2025, he has also been a member of UNICEF Italia’s Board of Directors.
