On the eve of the new school year, Libera has weighed in on upcoming changes to San Marino’s education system and on the ongoing discussions concerning teaching staff. The party welcomes the first steps taken so far—starting with the agreement on the support course and on respecting seniority lists—but is now calling for a broader agreement among teachers, trade unions and the Government.
On the educational offer front, attention is turning primarily to the 2026/2027 school year, which will see the launch of the continuation pathway for the ITI (Technical Industrial Institute) and the Liceo delle Scienze Umane (Human Sciences Lyceum). “As we approach a new school year, education continues to stand out as a fundamental pillar to invest in with vision and concrete action,” reads Libera’s statement. “In this respect, the 2026/2027 cycle will mark a key turning point with the launch of the continuation pathway for the ITI and the Liceo delle Scienze Umane—choices we have supported from the outset and which move in the right direction to ensure a solid, up-to-date educational offer.”
The party also highlighted developments concerning the Vocational Training Centre (CFP). “Equally significant are the changes underway at the CFP, which—after years of mere announcements—are finally becoming reality. What is emerging is a fully-fledged vocational school, capable of fulfilling compulsory education requirements and offering young Sammarinese a quality alternative to the lyceum track.”
However, the issue of teaching staff remains central, with talks currently underway involving trade unions. Libera acknowledged “the positive mediation work carried out by the Secretariat of Education, which is still ongoing,” and voiced approval of the initial results achieved so far. “The agreement reached on the support course and on respecting seniority lists represents a fundamental step forward, moving in the direction of greater clarity and certainty for teaching staff.”
For the party, however, discussions must now go further to reach a comprehensive solution. “But now we need to look beyond this. A shared agreement between teachers, unions and Government is essential—one capable of offering greater certainty to teachers and ensuring stability and continuity across the entire education sector. Investing in schools also means investing in the people who guarantee their quality and smooth operation every single day.”
Libera concluded by affirming it will continue to monitor the negotiations: “Libera will keep following this process closely, confident that dialogue and mutual listening between the parties can produce concrete solutions for San Marino’s schools, which are—and must remain—a point of excellence for our country.”
