The Pazzini middle school in Villa Verucchio reopened as scheduled on Tuesday, November 3, following acts of vandalism committed on the night of Halloween. The municipality thanked council employees and school staff who worked to ensure the reopening, as well as Vetreria Valmarecchia, which quickly replaced all the broken glass in the doors and windows.
In the wake of the incident, the administration wants to speed up work on the Territorial Alliance Pact, a project launched over the summer to address youth distress. The protocol aims to bring together the municipality, law enforcement, social services, schools and the third sector, so that young people in difficulty can find someone to turn to.
“Distress often stems from boredom, from social isolation,” noted Deputy Mayor Paolo Masini, who oversees social services, security and local police. “What has happened in recent days is certainly a signal urging us to move faster and complete the project as soon as possible, creating a tool that can guarantee our young people someone willing to lend a hand when they’re struggling.”
