Titans edge past Scandiano 75-72 for third straight win

Pallacanestro Titano held off Scandiano in a tight finish, with Ugolini, Rinaldi, Dragomanni and Fusco all scoring in double figures.

Pallacanestro Titano beat Scandiano 75-72, securing their third consecutive victory. The match remained open until the final seconds, with the blue-and-whites pulling through after trailing 66-68 with two minutes left on the clock.

Four Titans players reached double figures: Ugolini led the way with 18 points, followed by Rinaldi with 17, Dragomanni with 15 and Fusco with 12.

The hosts started strong, with three-pointers from Rinaldi, Macina and Ugolini putting them up 14-7. Scandiano fought back, and after a 21-21 first quarter, went into the break ahead 36-32.

The visitors stretched their lead to 41-32 at the start of the second half. Titano answered from beyond the arc through Fusco and Rinaldi, then reeled off an 11-0 run to retake the lead: by the end of the third quarter it was 49-46.

In the final period, Dragomanni stood out, proving effective both in the paint and at the free-throw line. It was he who tied the game after two free throws from Fontanili had put the Emilians back in front with two minutes left on the clock.

Ugolini scored the go-ahead basket in the final minute. After a Scandiano turnover, Dragomanni made it 71-68 with a free throw with 17 seconds remaining.

Astolfi was fouled on a three-point attempt but converted only one of his three free throws. San Martini went 2-for-2 to make it 73-69. A three-pointer from Magnani briefly reopened the game, before Ugolini sealed it with two final free throws.

The Titans’ next outing will be Saturday in Casalecchio, for matchday six of the first phase.
