San Marino’s senior women’s national football team finally has dates for its first official matches. The Titans, coached by Giulia Domenichetti, will take to the field between late November and early December for friendlies against Liechtenstein and Gibraltar.
The first fixture is set for Saturday, 28 November against Liechtenstein, while a week later, on Saturday, 5 December, San Marino will face Gibraltar. Both matches will be played at home, although kick-off times and venues have yet to be confirmed.
This marks a historic milestone for San Marino football. As the FSGC (San Marino Football Federation) points out, “this double fixture already carries enormous historical significance, as it sets the coordinates for this team’s absolute debut in an official match, given that both games will carry FIFA international friendly status.”
The two matches will also represent a new stage in the development of the senior women’s national team, whose work so far has focused mainly on training sessions. The next on-field gathering is scheduled for the October international window.
The goal is to gradually prepare the Titans for their next international challenge. The friendlies against Liechtenstein and Gibraltar are in fact part of the “build-up to the UEFA Women’s Nations League,” the competition in which San Marino will make its debut in 2027.
Before returning to work, the team and staff will also take part in an institutional engagement. On Thursday, 10 September, the senior women’s national team will be received in audience by the Captains Regent at Palazzo Valloni.
Attention will then turn back to the pitch, with two dates already circled on the calendar: 28 November and 5 December, when San Marino’s new women’s national team will play the first two official international matches in its history.
