SAN MARINO – A September packed with international engagements, with Brussels and New York at the centre of the agenda. San Marino is preparing for a series of milestones that could further strengthen its role beyond its borders, while the United States has delivered fresh recognition of the value of its sovereignty and independence.
In his message for the September 3rd national holiday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio underscored the solid friendship between Washington and San Marino, built on respect for sovereignty and every nation’s right to choose its own future. The remark comes as the Titano approaches one of its most eagerly awaited milestones: the signing of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
The road map will then continue on the international security front. The State Congress (Congresso di Stato) has given the green light to sign the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, aimed at expanding San Marino’s cooperation in the fight against cybercrime and in the exchange of electronic evidence.
Next stop: New York. From 22 to 28 September, a delegation led by Foreign Secretary Luca Beccari will take part in the General Debate of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly. Europe, the United States and the UN thus become the three pillars of a particularly intense phase for the Titano’s diplomacy.
