«Before Manuela there had been other women, but I only love Valeria». Louis Dassilva once again addressed his relationship with Manuela Bianchi and the possible motive behind the murder of Pierina Paganelli, in the second part of his interview with Salvo Sottile broadcast on Tuesday on Rai2’s Ore 14.
The 36-year-old, acquitted at first instance of the 78-year-old’s murder, maintains that any discovery of the extramarital affair would not have posed a risk for him. «Sure, my wife would have been angry, but it wouldn’t have been a problem if she had found out about the affair».
Dassilva also spoke about Manuela’s feelings: «I don’t know if she was in love with me, even though she always told me she was». He recalled the conversation intercepted at the police station on the morning the body was found, when Bianchi allegedly told him: «I want you to get out of it». According to Dassilva, their relationship would have continued regardless, and the murder would not have changed anything between them.
Having stated in the previous episode that he had a name in mind for the killer, though without any proof, the 36-year-old declined to comment on the possibility that the person being sought might actually live on Via del Ciclamino: «I don’t know whether they should be looking among the residents».
Giuliano Saponi, Pierina’s son, also took part in the programme, reiterating that he was unaware of any alternative theories: «I’m not aware of any alternative hypothesis to Dassilva being guilty, or at least none has been presented to me».
Saponi then referred to the evidentiary hearing (incidente probatorio) concerning Manuela Bianchi’s statements and concluded: «For now we have to wait. I’m only waiting for justice for my mother’s death. It would be terrible and sad if it never came».
