Dassilva rebuilds his life after acquittal: back to work in September

After being cleared in the first-degree verdict over the murder of Pierina Paganelli, Louis Dassilva is slowly returning to normal life.

A new daily routine, far from prison and from via del Ciclamino. After being acquitted in the first-degree trial on charges of murdering Pierina Paganelli, Louis Dassilva is gradually trying to resume the life he led before his arrest.

The 36-year-old has stayed in the Rimini area and has not planned any holidays or trips. He is spending this period together with his wife, Valeria Bartolucci, and has now permanently left the home on via del Ciclamino — the same street where the 78-year-old woman was murdered on 3 October 2023.

The next step could come in September, when Dassilva hopes to return to work. The plan is to resume his job in the metalworking sector, although some details still need to be worked out.

Meanwhile, the legal proceedings remain ongoing. The written reasoning behind the acquittal is expected on 7 September. From that date, prosecutors will have 45 days to file an appeal, meaning the case is expected to move on to the Court of Appeal.

His defense team, lawyers Riario Fabbri and Andrea Guidi, is already preparing for the next stage of the trial. Fabbri reaffirmed his conviction in his client’s innocence and, looking ahead, noted: “The battle is still a long one.”

In the meantime, after spending the first months following his release moving between several different places to stay, Dassilva appears to have found greater stability. “He’s calm. Right now he’s going through a period of complete peace of mind after so many worries,” his lawyer explained.
