San Marino: fails to stop at checkpoint, 23-year-old tests positive for alcohol and drugs

A young man stopped in Murata during the night of August 13 tested positive for both alcohol and narcotics, and was driving despite a suspended license.

He failed to stop immediately when signaled by Civil Police, and subsequent checks found him positive for alcohol and narcotics. A 23-year-old man landed in trouble after being stopped during the night of August 13 in Murata.

Around 2:20 a.m., a Rapid Response patrol noticed a Volkswagen traveling at high speed along Via del Serrone. Officers signaled for the driver to stop, but he continued for roughly a hundred meters before pulling over.

During the check, officers noticed signs of possible impairment. Tests subsequently confirmed the presence of both alcohol and narcotic substances. Further checks revealed that the young man was driving despite having already had his license suspended and revoked for previous criminal offenses.

Civil Police then extended their operation to the young man’s home, where they found and seized approximately 4 grams of hashish. The 23-year-old was ultimately reported to judicial authorities without arrest.
