Three arrests, five driving licenses revoked and more than a hundred people checked. That is the tally of the operations carried out by the Local Police during Ferragosto week across Riccione, Misano Adriatico and Coriano.
The most dramatic incident began after the theft of a wallet and a smartphone from a tourist. A patrol noticed what was happening and chased down two young Moroccan men residing in the Modena area, catching and stopping them between the beach and Viale Milano despite their resistance.
One of the two is a minor and was taken to a first-reception centre on orders of the Bologna Juvenile Court prosecutor’s office. For the adult, however, the Rimini Court upheld the arrest, ordering him to remain in a municipality in the Modena area pending a hearing scheduled for October.
A third arrest came during another operation following an attempted theft. Officers stopped a young Tunisian man, identified by the victim, who was found carrying a knife and a wallet containing cash and documents stolen in Cervia two days earlier. He reportedly also resisted during identification. The young man was already subject to an imprisonment order for offences committed while he was a minor: following a fast-track trial in Rimini, he was transferred to the juvenile detention facility in Bologna.
The checks also focused on road safety. Five drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, resulting in the revocation of their licenses. Two people were also reported to the Prefecture for drug possession: small quantities of cocaine, ketamine, marijuana and MDMA were seized.
