A total of 33 expressions of interest have been submitted to the Municipality of Rimini regarding the future organisation of beach concessions. The preliminary consultation, which closed on 18 September, will help Palazzo Garampi gather input ahead of defining the lots and the subsequent public tenders.
The response came mainly from local operators: 31 of the 33 proposals are reportedly linked to Rimini-based businesses. The procedure, however, does not grant any priority or advantage to those who took part.
The Municipality will now move on to a technical review of the proposals, assessing their consistency with the objectives of redevelopment, sustainability and innovation set out for the shoreline. The large-scale aggregations, generally speaking, cover contiguous stretches of beach of at least 250 metres.
The future layout, however, will not be based solely on large lots. The administration has confirmed that the procedures will also include small aggregations of two or three concessions, as well as tenders for individual beach establishments.
The material gathered through the consultation will therefore feed into the drafting of the public tender procedures, alongside the ongoing revision of the Beach Management Plan (Piano dell’Arenile).
In recent days, Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad reiterated his intention to maintain a diversified system, in which large-scale aggregations can be used where deemed beneficial, without doing away with the traditional model of Rimini’s beach resorts and smaller aggregations. The administration’s stated goal remains to support this model with new investment and a gradual redevelopment of the beach.
