Breast Unit, Aos donates software to ISS to track patients’ care pathways

The Associazione oncologica sammarinese hands over DataBreast, a management system to monitor patients from diagnosis to follow-up.

The Breast Unit at the Istituto per la Sicurezza Sociale (ISS) has a new tool to monitor patients’ care pathways, from diagnosis to treatment and subsequent check-ups. It is the DataBreast management software, donated by the Associazione oncologica sammarinese (Aos) and handed over today, 22 October.

The program allows clinical data to be collected and analysed in a structured way, checks the completeness of information, and keeps track of quality indicators for breast care activities. It will support the work of the multidisciplinary team, with the aim of making patient care more coordinated and consistent.

The acquisition was already among the measures planned by the ISS to strengthen the Breast Unit. Present at the handover were the Secretary of State for Health Massimo Andrea Ugolini, ISS director general Claudio Vagnini, Breast Unit coordinator Leonardo De Meo, and Marina Corsi, a member of Aos’s executive board.

“Strengthening the tools available to the Breast Unit means supporting the quality of the pathways dedicated to women’s health and giving continuity to work in which prevention, diagnosis and patient care are all part of the same commitment to patients and the community,” said Ugolini.

The donation is part of Ottobre Rosa 2026, dedicated to the memory of Mariella Mularoni. The programme, promoted by the ISS together with institutions, professionals, associations and local organisations, combines prevention and early diagnosis with informational meetings and initiatives supporting breast care pathways.

For Aos, the contribution stems from the solidarity gathered through its activities over the years. “It is a way of giving back to the San Marino community a part of what we have received over 33 years thanks to the generosity and trust of so many people,” explains president Maria Grazia Angeli. “Our commitment is to keep turning this solidarity into concrete tools and opportunities for patients and for the facilities that care for them every day.”

Vagnini thanked the association for a donation born out of listening to the needs of the Breast Unit. “For the ISS, innovation means putting better tools in the hands of our professionals, but above all making patient care more solid and consistent. Behind every piece of data and every care pathway there are patients and families who need to be able to rely on expertise, coordination and closeness.”
