Blocked highways, airports without fuel and cities at risk of paralysis. The truckers’ protest is causing serious disruption across several parts of Italy, with repercussions on traffic, public services and production activities.
The latest figures released by the Interior Ministry (Viminale) indicate that 1,339 people have been identified and 71 reported to authorities in connection with the roadblocks linked to the mobilization.
The situation is particularly critical in southern Italy. The mayors of Bari and Naples, Vito Leccese and Gaetano Manfredi, have raised the alarm over mounting difficulties affecting waste collection and transport, warning of the risk of a breakdown in essential services.
Concern is also growing among industry representatives in Campania and Puglia, who describe businesses on the verge of collapse due to disruptions in the movement of goods.
Meanwhile, the airports of Crotone and Reggio Calabria are reported to be without fuel, while the A1 and A30 highways are experiencing queues, blockades and closures linked to the protest.
