A goalless draw, but with chances at both ends. At Montecchio, San Marino Academy Under 22 and Faetano finished 0-0 in the third round of the Sammarinese Championship.
The opening exchanges were evenly matched. Nicola Molinari tried his luck from distance early on, before the Academy built a promising move down the left through Montali and Grandoni, without finding the decisive touch. Faetano grew into the game in the latter part of the first half and created the more dangerous chances: Golinucci found himself one-on-one with Amici, who did well to narrow the angle, while shortly after the Titans’ goalkeeper also denied Rivas.
In the second half, the yellow-and-blues continued to push through Elia, but Amici was equal to the task. The Academy responded in the 58th minute with a powerful strike from Montali, parried by Venturini; on the follow-up, Canarezza narrowly failed to connect with the loose ball.
The match remained finely balanced until the end. The Academy appealed for a penalty following a contact between Ciacci and Tugliani, but referee Hafidi ruled there were no grounds for a spot-kick. After two minutes of stoppage time, the final whistle sounded.
The 0-0 result allows Nicola Cancelli’s side to move onto two points, securing their second consecutive draw after the one against La Fiorita. It is instead the first point of the season for Floriano Sperindio’s Faetano, who get their campaign moving after two defeats.
