Rallylegend 2026: Hyundai returns, with Dani Sordo at the wheel of the i20 N Rally1

Hyundai Motorsport is back at Rallylegend with Dani Sordo, joined by M-Sport Ford and the returning Lancia Corse HF among the world-class entries.

Hyundai Motorsport is returning to Rallylegend 2026, and it will do so with Dani Sordo, alongside co-driver Patricia Saiz, at the wheel of the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 in its gravel-spec version. After M-Sport Ford and the comeback of Lancia Corse HF, Hyundai will become the second official World Rally Championship team present in San Marino.

For the Spanish driver, this marks a return: Sordo already competed at Rallylegend in 2023, during the 21st edition, driving the Hyundai i20 WRC. This time, the Hyundai Motorsport crew will take part from Thursday to Saturday in the non-competitive Legend Stars category, before lining up on Sunday for the Memorial Bettega.

“Rallylegend is always a fascinating event to take part in, bringing together so many different cars and drivers from the rally world. I’m delighted to be back with Hyundai Motorsport and to have the chance to drive the Hyundai i20 N Rally1. We want to enjoy ourselves behind the wheel and put on a great show for the fans. I can’t wait to return to San Marino and experience the event together with the team,” said Dani Sordo in the official statement.

Among the highlights of the 2026 edition is also the Memorial Bettega, which will make its debut on the Rallylegend program this Sunday, reviving the head-to-head format made famous by the Bologna Motor Show. The event will feature 16 cars split across four categories: WRC, Group B, ex-Group A and Rally2.

The Group A Trophy promises to be particularly rich, bringing together eight legendary figures from rally history: Piero Liatti in a Subaru, Gustavo Trelles in a Subaru, Andrea Aghini in a Lancia Delta 16V, Andrea Navarra in a Subaru, Franco Cunico in a Ford Sierra, Piero Longhi in a Toyota Celica, Armin Schwarz in a Toyota Celica, and Raul Marchisio in a Lancia Delta 16V. They will be joined by four Rally2 cars.

Rallylegend will also dedicate a special tribute to the memory of Sandro Munari. Six of the champion’s original cars will be on display in the Village, honoring a key figure in Lancia and Italian rally history, four-time winner of the Monte Carlo Rally and European champion.

“The Group A Trophy is our way of paying tribute to those who made Italian rallying great during an unrepeatable era, just like Sandro Munari’s cars that we’ll be putting on display. These are stories that find their natural home at Rallylegend, and ones we want to keep telling at every edition,” said Paolo Valli, Rallylegend organizer.

For Vito Piarulli, the event’s organizer, “Hyundai Motorsport’s return to Rallylegend, with a driver of Dani Sordo’s caliber, is further proof of how our event has become a true benchmark for world rallying. But this edition has an extra reason to be special: the Memorial Bettega brings Group B, WRC, ex-Group A and Rally2 cars together in a showdown that fans have been waiting for.”
