The competitive engagements of the San Marino Team at the XX Mediterranean Games in Taranto have come to a close. The last athlete in white and blue to take to the field of play was Nicole Conti, who competed in the show jumping event aboard Jappeloup.
In the first round, the Sammarinese rider completed a near-flawless course, incurring just four penalty points at the water jump. The result allowed her to secure 22nd place and clear the cut for the second round.
In the evening session, Conti and Jappeloup — competing together internationally for the first time — confirmed their strong form, closing out the two days with 25 penalty points overall and a final 22nd-place finish out of 46 combinations.
For Nicole Conti, however, the Taranto experience is not yet over. Alongside sprinter Alessandro Gasperoni, she will serve as San Marino’s flag-bearer at the closing ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow evening at the Eraldo Iacovone Stadium.
Meanwhile, the road to the next Mediterranean gathering has already begun. The fourth edition of the Mediterranean Beach Games, set for Portimão-Lagoa 2027, was presented at the Main Press Center in Taranto, confirming that the event will move to Portugal.
The edition in the Algarve will feature 14 disciplines, with 800-900 athletes expected from 26 countries. Competitions will be hosted at Praia da Rocha and Praia Grande. The symbolic handover between Taranto and Portugal will be built around the theme of water, under the concept “Carried by Light, United by Water.”
