A comeback to remember for Ylenia Gasperoni. The San Marino Athletics Academy athlete claimed silver in the long jump at the 60th Aics national athletics championship, held on 6 September in Riccione.
Gasperoni, who has represented San Marino’s national team on several occasions at youth level, was returning to competition after a period away from the track. On her third attempt, she recorded a jump of 5.02 metres, a performance worth 669 World Athletics points that secured her second place overall.
“I’m really pleased with this result, especially since it came in my first competition after a break,” said Gasperoni. “It’s an important starting point: I’m continuing to work with consistency and determination to reach new goals.”
