Coarse fishing: San Marino kicks off world championship bid in Portugal

San Marino’s national coarse fishing team begins its campaign at the 72nd World Championships in Coruche, Portugal.

San Marino’s adventure at the 72nd World Coarse Fishing Championships for Nations has begun in Portugal. The international competition is taking place in Coruche, where the blue-and-white delegation took part in the opening ceremony.

Flying the flag for Titano will be Jacopo Angelini, Massimo Biordi, Ivan Biordi, Stefano Reggini, Filippo Parenti and Marco Scarponi. The team is captained by Andrea Rossi, alongside coach Rodolfo Frigeri, team assistant Salvatore Ferrigno and Thomas Biordi, delegate of the San Marino Sport Fishing Federation.

Before the medal races get underway, competitors will take part in practice days on the fishing grounds. Until Friday 4 September, teams will be able to study the characteristics of the course, test different approaches and fine-tune their strategies.

The World Championship will reach its climax over the weekend. The two official competitions are scheduled for Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 September, at the end of which the world titles for Nations will be awarded.
