Roberto Buffagni, an entrepreneur who for decades was one of the most recognized names in the nightlife scene of the Romagna Riviera, died during the night between Tuesday, August 4 and Wednesday, August 5. He had been ill.
Together with his brother Massimo Buffagni, he was a key figure in the history of Italian nightlife entertainment, lending his name to venues that defined an era, such as Villa delle Rose and Peter Pan in Riccione, as well as Matis in Bologna.
Over the years, the clubs run by the Buffagni brothers became landmarks of the national nightlife circuit, hosting internationally renowned DJs and artists across thousands of events that drew crowds from across Italy and abroad. Roberto Buffagni was regarded as the creative force behind the venues, adept at spotting emerging trends and turning them into winning formats.
His entrepreneurial work also left a mark on Rimini. After moving to the Riviera from Reggio Emilia, Buffagni had also taken over the Paradiso club in Covignano, helping revive the historic disco before its eventual closure.
