Frightening moments unfolded in late afternoon in Riccione, where a large pine tree came crashing down on Viale Ceccarini, not far from the railway line. Despite numerous people out for a stroll at the time, no one was injured.
According to initial reports, the tree apparently began to crack before snapping at the base and toppling to the ground. As it fell, it also struck a lamppost.
The fire brigade and local police responded to the scene, cordoning off the area to carry out safety operations.
Earlier in the day, Riccione had been hit by rain and wind. The exact cause of the pine tree’s collapse has yet to be determined.
