An assault lasting just twenty seconds, followed by pepper spray that forced customers to flee the premises. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, in the night between Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October, at the Birrodromo bar in Riccione.
Four young men entered from the railway side of the building and headed straight for a young man to attack him. Two or three other people standing nearby were also caught up in the altercation.
One of the attackers used an irritant spray, which spread through the venue, causing tearing eyes and breathing difficulties even among customers who had nothing to do with the incident. Staff rushed to assist patrons and opened all the doors, including emergency exits, to allow everyone to get outside.
Carabinieri were called to the scene. The situation returned to normal within about twenty minutes, and the Birrodromo resumed its activities.
Security cameras captured the entire sequence of events. The footage has been handed over to investigators to help identify those responsible and determine each person’s role in the attack.
According to initial witness accounts, the attackers were local Riccione residents, around 18 years old. The motive may stem from a personal dispute, though the full circumstances have yet to be confirmed.
Management has filed a formal complaint and intends to seek compensation from those responsible, once identified, for both financial losses and damage to the venue’s reputation.
