Junior Eurovision: San Marino bets on 11-year-old Violamarie

The young singer will fly the white-and-blue flag at Malta's Ta' Qali venue on 24 October, as San Marino RTV aims to build on its best-ever result.

Violamarie will represent San Marino at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2026. The 11-year-old singer, originally from Milan, will carry the white and blue colours to the stage of the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali, where the competition is scheduled for 24 October.

With this choice, San Marino RTV hopes to build on the ninth place secured in 2025 — the best result achieved so far by the Titano in the contest. Violamarie is already active on the international music scene as a singer and performer.

“I’m very excited — I used to follow San Marino’s participation, and I’m really happy to have this opportunity. It will be the biggest stage I’ve ever sung on. I hope to make new friends and have a lot of fun,” the young artist said.

Sixteen countries will take part in this year’s edition. The title of San Marino’s entry remains under wraps for now. The song was written by Emilio Munda, Piero Romitelli and Denny Montesi.

Montesi, who also serves as head of delegation, explained that the choice fell on an artist who is “young, recognisable and with strong international potential,” with the goal of bringing a competitive, contemporary project to Malta. The stage production will also have an international dimension, with a Brazilian professional involved in designing the set.

For San Marino RTV’s general director, Roberto Sergio, the participation is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the Republic’s international profile and bring younger generations closer to the world of Eurovision.

The Secretariat of State also highlighted the initiative’s tourism value: according to Alan Gasperoni, events like Eurovision allow San Marino’s name and flag to reach an international audience that few other initiatives could match.
