Two days of proceedings and a particularly extensive agenda for the Standing Committee on Health and Social Welfare, Social Security, Social Policies, Sport, Territory, Environment and Agriculture, convened at the Kursaal Congress Centre on 29 and 30 September.
Among the key items is the hearing of the ISS Executive Committee (Istituto per la Sicurezza Sociale, San Marino’s social security institute), alongside two reports from the Secretary of State for Health. The first will address the outcomes of the implementation of Article 33 of Law 129/2022 and possible resulting reorganisation measures; the second will provide an update on the process for enabling the cross-border transport of blood collected in San Marino.
A significant part of the session will also be devoted to the state of implementation of numerous Arengo Petitions (Istanze d’Arengo). On the healthcare front, the Committee will once again address issues such as the creation of a “baby hatch”, advance treatment directives and end-of-life care, the establishment of a hospice, and support for organisations working against violence against women.
Considerable attention will also be given to territory, environment and road safety: topics on the table include air quality in industrial areas, climate change and water resources, pine processionary moth control, the use of agricultural chemicals, and the protection of green spaces. On the roads front, discussions will cover the safety upgrade of the Superstrada, works in Fiorentino, Chiesanuova, Lesignano and Canepa, as well as a proposal for a pedestrian overpass at Croce di Domagnano.
The agenda will also touch on several issues related to sport and hunting, including the right of San Marino citizens with disabilities to take part in competitive sport and the petition calling for a ban on driven wild boar hunts.
