Fratelli Benedettini hands over leadership: Michael takes the helm

Roberto Benedettini steps down as president of the historic San Marino transport company, passing the baton to his nephew Michael, the family's third generation.

A generational shift at the helm of Fratelli Benedettini S.p.A. Roberto Benedettini is stepping down as president of the historic San Marino transport company, passing the baton to his nephew Michael Benedettini, a member of the family’s third generation.

The company’s roots go back to 7 March 1946, when Fortunato “Nando” Benedettini and his brother Giuseppe launched the route between San Marino and Rimini with two buses, a Fiat 621 and a Fiat 626. The first coach carried the license plate SM 001. Since then, the company has covered millions of kilometres, carrying just as many passengers and connecting Titano with the Riviera, Bologna and other Italian cities.

In bidding farewell to the company, Roberto Benedettini also paid tribute to his brother Pierluigi, with whom he shared the firm’s key decisions for more than thirty years. Michael and the new generation are now entrusted with the responsibility of carrying the company forward while keeping the bond with employees, travellers and the Republic strong.

Roberto Benedettini will not be stepping away from business altogether: he will focus on the Rimini Calcio project, on developing the youth ranks, and on other ventures he is pursuing in Italy. “The role changes, but the spirit doesn’t: keep building, keep serving,” said the outgoing president.
