Rain complicated the opening day of Rallylegend, but Luca Pedersoli and Anna Tomasi made no mistakes. After winning the Sprint Legend Race, the crew driving the Hyundai i20 N Rally1 also took the lead in the WRC standings at the end of Friday evening’s stages.
Just over 15 seconds behind them came Nikolay Gryazin in a Lancia Ypsilon HF Integrale Rally2. Third place went to San Marino driver Danilo Tomassini, with co-driver Stefano Spadoni, in a Skoda Fabia Evo.
In the Classic category, Hungary’s Miklos Kazar leads alongside co-driver Tamas Begala in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9. They are followed by Gustavo Trelles in a Subaru Impreza 555, and Switzerland’s Il Valli at the wheel of a BMW M3.
It’s an all-San Marino battle in the Historic class, where Enrico Ercolani Volta and Daniele Conti, driving a BMW 320 E21, lead by just one-tenth of a second over Nicola Bonfè and Massimo Bizzocchi in a Ford Escort RS. Simone Brusori rounds out the podium in third place driving a Porsche 911.
Meanwhile, at the Rally Village, there was a moment dedicated to the memory of Alex Fiorio, with a tribute that brought together friends and leading figures from the world of rallying, including Miki Biasion, Andrea Aghini, Piero Liatti and Gigi Pirollo. Some of the most iconic cars from his career were also on display.
The event also marked forty years since the end of the legendary Group B era, with a parade of historic cars and an appearance by former world champion Stig Blomqvist, driving an Audi Sport Quattro S1 E1.
Sunday, October 11, will bring the grand finale of Rallylegend, with the final stages and the much-anticipated Memorial Bettega on The Legend track, ahead of the crews’ arrival at the Rally Village for the awards ceremony.
