Relentless phone calls and messages, WhatsApp monitoring, tailing and stakeouts outside her home. This is the long trail of behavior that the Rimini Public Prosecutor’s Office is attributing to a 48-year-old man from Rimini who lives in San Marino, who has been sent directly to trial on charges of stalking his former partner. The preliminary investigations judge (gip) ordered an immediate trial: the man has been in custody since August 28 and will appear before the judge on December 9.
According to the prosecution, it all began in October 2022, with jealousy that grew progressively worse. In one episode, the 48-year-old allegedly hurled the woman’s phone onto the car dashboard and later smashed the rear windows of the vehicle with his fists. In November 2025, he is said to have followed her to the Rimini emergency room, where she had gone after suffering a severe panic attack.
The situation is alleged to have escalated in the summer of 2026. According to prosecutors, the man monitored his ex-partner’s WhatsApp activity, bombarding her with calls, texts and voice messages, before moving on to tailing her and staging nighttime stakeouts outside her home and the gym. The alleged conduct is said to have extended to the woman’s family members and friends, involving threats and surveillance. Her 19-year-old son was reportedly confronted at his workplace and, under the pressure this caused, ultimately quit his job and sought refuge at a friend’s home.
Prosecutors allege that this situation caused the woman severe and ongoing anxiety and fear, forcing her to change her daily habits. The alleged conduct continued up to August 28, 2026. The trial before the Rimini court is scheduled for December 9.
