Economic development and employment as two parts of the same strategy for San Marino’s future. That is the position expressed by Libera, commenting on recent measures concerning the introduction of Mobile Housing Units in agritourism facilities — so-called glamping — and the law on workplace inclusion for people with disabilities.
“Helping San Marino grow means creating new economic opportunities, supporting those who invest and, at the same time, building a more modern and inclusive labour market,” reads Libera’s statement. “This is the direction Libera is pursuing through the work of the Secretariat of State for Territory and the Secretariat of State for Labour”.
On the tourism front, the party draws attention to allowing agritourism facilities to host Mobile Housing Units. According to Libera, this option will let farming businesses expand and diversify their accommodation offerings through lightweight, reversible solutions, while preserving their connection to the rural landscape.
“It is a concrete way to tap into growing tourist demand, which is increasingly oriented towards authentic, sustainable experiences tied to the local area,” the statement continues. “But it also means creating favourable conditions for private investment, spreading tourist flows more evenly across the year, and generating new economic and employment opportunities”.
The other chapter concerns the law on workplace inclusion, which introduces a different approach to placing people with disabilities in jobs. The focus will no longer be predominantly on the degree of disability, but on assessing working capacity, skills, the specific role and the context of the placement.
“Targeted job placement through the PIV (Individual Life Plan) thus becomes a genuine personalised inclusion project,” Libera stresses. “A cultural shift even before it is a regulatory one”.
The reform envisages a multidisciplinary assessment, ongoing support that continues after hiring, and assistance aimed at both the employee and the employer, as well as the organisation of the workplace environment. It also provides for contribution relief for companies that hire people with disabilities, along with further incentives for voluntary hires or those exceeding the mandatory quota.
“Inclusion means putting everyone in a position to contribute according to their abilities,” the party states, arguing that economic development and social responsibility are not in contradiction.
“San Marino grows when it manages to open new paths, not when it stands still,” Libera concludes. “Opening new spaces for tourism, supporting our businesses, attracting new visitors, creating jobs and making work truly accessible are all part of the same challenge”.
The goal set out by the party is to work towards “a San Marino that is more dynamic, more competitive and, at the same time, more inclusive,” placing development and employment at the heart of the country’s agenda.
