Daniele Tomasetti has been reconfirmed as secretary of the USL’s Industry and Craft Federation at the conclusion of the federation’s fourth congress. His new mandate will continue to focus on protecting workers, addressing ongoing labour disputes, and managing the transformations the world of work will face as new technologies advance.
Tomasetti recalled that in July 2026 all contracts in the industry, craft and construction sectors were renewed, guaranteeing workers contractual coverage through December 2028. The next step, he said, will be to consolidate existing protections and address the effects of technological challenges, both for office employees and for those in operational roles.
Several issues remain on the table, however, starting with company and individual disputes. Among these, Tomasetti cited the dispute with Colombini, expressing hope for a resolution, as well as cases involving financial and disciplinary matters and unpaid wages.
Also speaking at the congress was Secretary of State for Industry Rossano Fabbri, who underlined the role of the trade union and addressed issues of training, safety and dignity at work. He also touched on the Association Agreement with the European Union, particularly significant for an economic system that directs around 90% of its exports to the European market.
