Under 22, La Fiorita test looms as Academy map out response to opening defeat

San Marino Academy Under 22 aim to build on a promising performance despite the 0-2 opening loss, as they prepare to face a strong La Fiorita side.

San Marino Academy Under 22 are looking to build on their performance rather than dwell on the result. After a 0-2 defeat on matchday one — a game that featured a saved penalty and several shots off the woodwork — the blue-and-whites return to the pitch on Sunday to face La Fiorita, fresh off a 0-0 draw with Virtus.

Captain Mattia Ciacci points the way forward: «We had a lot of bad luck, but we played a good match and kept the tempo high throughout. We need to improve our offensive edge and defensive focus, but we’re building on that performance.»

Facing one of the league’s best-equipped sides, the Academy have no intention of changing their approach. «La Fiorita are a very strong team, but we’ll try to play our game just as we would against anyone else,» Ciacci stresses. «We want to develop our style of play and our mentality regardless of the opponent.»

Positive signs are also emerging from within the group and from the integration of new players. The captain particularly highlights the team’s determination to keep playing their game even in difficult moments. La Fiorita-San Marino Academy kicks off Sunday at Montecchio at 3pm, with free live streaming available on Titani.tv.
