The calendar of “Giovedì in Centro” (Thursdays in the Center) continues, the initiative promoted by the Secretariat of State for Tourism that brings San Marino’s historic center to life with evening openings, events and activities for residents and visitors alike. The third installment is scheduled for Thursday, August 6.
According to the official statement, the event offers “evenings dedicated to shopping, entertainment, culture and the discovery of the Republic’s heritage,” with a program designed to keep the historic center lively well into the night.
Shops and venues open until 11 p.m.
Participating shops and businesses will stay open until 11 p.m., giving visitors the chance to shop, relax in the town’s venues and sample local Sammarinese specialties.
The squares will come alive with live music and entertainment. In Piazza della Libertà, Bo Cassidy & Paul B Sammers will perform, while at Porta San Francesco it will be the turn of Massimo Marches & Stefano Zambardino. In Piazza Titano, La Cantante Mascherata will take the stage, while magic shows will be provided by Mago Roby in Piazza Garibaldi and Mago Giais at Porta della Fratta. The artistic program is curated by Antonio Ramberti, with performances running in three time slots: 8:30-9:15 p.m., 9:30-10:15 p.m. and 10:20-11 p.m.
Towers and museums open in the evening
Among the planned initiatives are also special evening openings of the First Tower, Guaita, and the Second Tower, Cesta, open to visitors until 10:45 p.m., as well as the State Museum. Until 11 p.m., visitors can also see the exhibition “Icone Sacre Pop” (“Pop Sacred Icons”) by Simone Legno, on display at the headquarters of the Secretariat of State for Tourism.
For the occasion, the Tourist Information Office will remain open from 7:30 to 11 p.m., while the cable car will operate until 12:45 a.m. Additional evening runs of the San Marino-Rimini Shuttle Bus at 10 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. have also been confirmed.
As the statement notes, the event is “promoted by the Secretariat of State for Tourism, in collaboration with the Tourism Office and the trade associations USC, USOT, UNAS and OSLA,” and aims to “showcase the Republic’s heritage through a program that combines entertainment, culture, commerce and hospitality.”
