A new stamp issue dedicated to “Libertas,” the mascot symbolizing San Marino’s pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, will be unveiled alongside a series of public appearances by its creator, Simone Legno. The Republic is preparing to welcome the artist for San Marino Comics 2026, scheduled from August 28 to 30 in the historic center.
The first event is set for Friday, August 28, at 10:30 a.m., when the Secretariat of State for Tourism will host a press conference presenting the new Poste San Marino stamp dedicated to “Libertas,” with Simone Legno himself in attendance.
“The official launch will take place during San Marino Comics 2026, running from August 28 to 30 in the historic center of the Republic of San Marino,” the statement reads, adding that the artist will take part in several events throughout the festival.
Also on Friday, August 28, at 3 p.m., Legno will be a guest at the “Icone sacre pop” exhibition, held at the exhibition space of the Secretariat of State for Tourism. There, he will be interviewed by Alberto Grezzani, with the session filmed for video and social media content. A meet-and-greet and book signing will follow, during which limited, numbered autographed prints will be handed out while supplies last.
The day will continue with the artist’s visit to the Museum of Stamps and Coins. Simone Legno will also appear at the museum shop, where he will sign the Tokidoki-themed stamp issues, released the same day.
At 9 p.m. on August 28, the artist will also take part in the opening ceremony of San Marino Comics 2026, greeting the audience. The schedule continues on Saturday, August 29, at 4 p.m., with another meet-and-greet at the festival’s dedicated info point area.
Simone Legno’s presence on Titano is also tied to the “Icone sacre pop” exhibition, which opened on July 11 and will remain open until September 30 at the Secretariat of State for Tourism. “The exhibition stands as tangible proof of how the legacy of Expo Osaka 2025 continues to generate new opportunities for dialogue and shared projects,” the statement notes.
The exhibition is promoted by the Secretariat of State for Tourism in collaboration with the Dicastery for Evangelization of the Holy See, and grew directly out of relationships built during the World Expo in Japan.
“The initiative stems from the experience gained during the World Expo, turning institutional and cultural relationships into a lasting asset,” the statement continues. “The project aims to serve as a springboard for new synergies linking contemporary art, spirituality and intercultural dialogue, giving rise to an original visual language that connects different identities through shared values.”
