Roberto Sergio is leaving Rai, but he could remain at the helm of San Marino Rtv. The director general of viale Mazzini will exit the Italian broadcaster on 30 September, but he has made clear that the decision does not coincide with his retirement and, above all, does not automatically bring an end to his tenure at the Sammarinese state television.
The news was reported by Domani, in an article by Lisa Di Giuseppe published on 17 September. According to the newspaper, Sergio informed Rai’s board of directors of his position during Thursday’s meeting, explicitly leaving open the possibility of continuing in his role on the Titano.
«I wish to clarify that this decision does not coincide with my retirement,» Sergio wrote in his message to the board.
The matter directly concerns San Marino Rtv, where Sergio serves as director general. According to Domani, no final decision on his future there has yet been made, and it could take a few more days to clarify the situation.
Sergio himself outlined the two possible paths ahead: «I will therefore decide whether to continue my commitment at the helm of San Marino Rtv, supporting the relaunch and development process launched in recent years, or whether to consider new professional challenges and opportunities».
His departure from Rai, then, does not for now close the chapter in San Marino. Sergio appears intent on weighing his future at San Marino Rtv separately, while it remains to be seen what his final decision on continuing in the role will be.
