The 2026-2027 hunting season in the Republic of San Marino will begin on Wednesday, September 2, according to the new hunting calendar approved by the Congress of State.
The first phase will be dedicated exclusively to hunting migratory game from fixed hides, on September 2, 5, 9, 13 and 16, with activity permitted from 6am to noon and from 4pm to 7:30pm. The general opening of the season, on the other hand, is set for Sunday, September 20, starting at 7am. Hunting will remain banned on Tuesdays and Fridays, as in previous years.
The calendar identifies around 40 huntable species, including both birds and mammals, with different permitted periods depending on the species. In the early days of September, hunters will be able to target, among other species, turtle doves, blackbirds, wood pigeons, starlings, jays, magpies and crows. From late September onward, additional species will be gradually added to the list, with the season set to close on February 10, 2027.
Among the main changes introduced this year is the elimination of the system of “reserved” fixed hunting posts, replaced by new rules governing the use of hunting positions across the territory.
