Energy bills: San Marino extends discounts for energy-intensive businesses by three more months

The government has renewed relief measures on electricity and gas costs for energy-intensive companies for the July-September 2026 period.

Three more months of relief on energy bills for San Marino’s energy-intensive businesses. The government has decided to extend, also to cover consumption in July, August and September 2026, the extraordinary measures introduced to ease the burden of electricity and gas costs on companies that use large amounts of energy.

As reported by San Marino RTV, the extension is set out in Delegated Decree no. 137 of 14 September 2026 and covers the period from 1 July to 30 September.

On the electricity front, a reduction of €0.015 per kWh on the cost of the raw material has been confirmed. The benefit applies to customers on the “other uses” tariff, supplied via medium voltage, who exceeded 1 GWh in consumption during 2024.

The discount on natural gas also remains in place: users of the primary technological gas service will benefit from a reduction of €0.1 per standard cubic metre on the cost of the raw material.

The measure continues along the path set out in 2025, with the aim of narrowing the gap in energy costs borne by San Marino companies compared with their foreign competitors.

During previous extensions, the president of the Industrialists’ Association, Emanuele Rossini, had stressed that these measures were mainly intended to reduce the competitive disadvantage faced against Italian firms, while calling for more structural interventions. “Tariffs should be revised in a different way,” he had said.
