More personnel on the ground, enhanced video surveillance, next-generation drones and a reduced number of competing cars. Ahead of RallyLegend 2026, scheduled to take place in the Republic of San Marino from October 8 to 11, a broader security setup has been arranged compared to last year’s edition.
The planning was carried out by the institutions, the police forces and the organizers, with the goal of managing the high turnout expected and limiting possible issues over the event’s four days.
“Ahead of RallyLegend, scheduled from October 8 to 11, 2026, the Institutions, the organizers and the Police Forces are working in close cooperation with the aim of ensuring the best possible security conditions and allowing the event to run smoothly and in an orderly manner” – reads the statement issued by the State Secretariat for Internal Affairs and the State Secretariat for Industry with responsibility for Sport.
The plan primarily calls for a 30% increase in control personnel compared to 2025, amounting to about 70 additional staff. Services and coverage at checkpoints in the areas affected by the event will also be increased.
Another measure concerns video surveillance, with 30% more camera viewing points and the introduction of two body cams, which were not used in the previous edition. “The system will ensure full coverage of the area involved in the event and will be one of the central tools of the prevention and control setup” – the statement continues. “Already in the previous edition, video surveillance proved particularly effective, making it possible to accurately reconstruct unlawful incidents, identify those responsible and bring them before the judicial authorities”.
Monitoring will also be supported by next-generation drones, equipped with waterproof systems and thermal cameras for night vision. The equipment in the Control Room and the data network will also be upgraded, in order to improve the management and transmission of information coming from the various control systems.
The number of participants will also change. The cars admitted will be 140, forty fewer than in 2025. The reduction was decided to make it easier to manage traffic flow, schedules and the road closures planned during RallyLegend. At the same time, visitor parking capacity will be expanded, with the possibility of opening additional areas if needed.
“The overall set of measures adopted is aimed not only at preventing possible risk situations, but also at ensuring an orderly, coordinated and timely response to any need that might arise during the event” – the two State Secretariats explain. “The goal shared by everyone involved is to allow residents, spectators and participants to experience RallyLegend safely and calmly, encouraging the widest possible participation in the event while limiting, as far as possible, the inconvenience for the local population”.

“The public is therefore invited to take part in RallyLegend with confidence and a sense of responsibility, following the instructions of organizers and Police Forces and helping, through correct and responsible behavior, to ensure the smooth, orderly and safe running of an event of great appeal for the Republic of San Marino” – the statement concludes.
