A change at the top and a reorganization getting underway for San Marino’s public service. With the appointment of new director general Laura Gobbi, the administration is embarking on a course aimed at preparing the public machine for the changes tied to San Marino’s association with the European Union.
The plan, explains a statement from the Secretariat of State for Internal Affairs, will move along five fronts: technological innovation, staff training, international outreach, youth engagement and attention to people.
On the table are the introduction of new digital tools and training on the responsible use of artificial intelligence, as well as the strengthening of language and legal skills and the alignment of procedures and administrative culture with European standards. The stated goal is also to make the public administration more attractive to young San Marino professionals, without neglecting inclusion, equal opportunities and workplace wellbeing.
“This is not just a formal adjustment,” says Laura Gobbi, “but a change in administrative culture that we want to build together with those who work every day in the public administration, combining the experience of those already here with new energy and new skills.”
The new director also places training and listening to employees at the center of her approach: “We want an administration that is competent, but also human.”
Gobbi also thanked Milena Gasperoni, who led the public service over the past year. The process will proceed in stages: first the mapping of processes and skills, followed by training programs and initial digitalization efforts, starting with the services that have the greatest impact on citizens.
