Poste San Marino is working to bring Amazon deliveries back to the Republic. The goal, included in the 2027 Economic Programme presented by Secretary of State for Finance Marco Gatti, is to find a solution that would restore the service through a logistics hub on Sammarinese territory.
According to the document, Poste San Marino has already opened talks with Amazon and has drawn up a proposal under which it would handle package distribution to Sammarinese customers, including collection of the single-phase tax (monofase). The model could also be extended to other international e-commerce operators.
The initiative is part of the broader modernisation drive at Poste San Marino, which aims to strengthen its role through new services tied to digitalisation and innovation. In committee, the project received positive feedback: according to some councillors, besides improving the service for citizens, it would also boost revenue for the State.
Amazon’s direct deliveries to San Marino were suspended in 2014, following a dispute over the tax treatment of shipments. Since then, purchases have arrived via Italy. Should the project go through, it would mark the official return of direct service to the Titano.
