Her intimate photographs had ended up on a website, alongside her full name. She knew nothing about it. She was alerted by a stranger who sent her a message on social media.
The complaint filed by a 42-year-old woman living in Rimini prompted an investigation by the flying squad (squadra mobile), which identified and reported her ex-partner, a 48-year-old man from Rimini.
The man is under investigation for stalking and the unlawful distribution of intimate images. The photographs were published online in March 2026.
Before discovering the images, the woman had noticed a sudden increase in unknown people following her social media profiles. A message from one of them revealed why.
According to investigators, the case also appears to involve repeated intrusions into her private and professional life, which continued even after the relationship ended.
The 48-year-old allegedly contacted people close to his former partner to gather information about her personal relationships and spread negative comments about her. Police have questioned several witnesses, gathering evidence of his behaviour.
Back in February 2025, the police commissioner (questore) had already formally warned the man over his stalking conduct toward the same woman.
During searches of the 48-year-old’s home and other locations he had access to, officers found numerous photographs and further evidence supporting the complaint.
The evidence gathered is now being examined by the judicial authorities, who will determine whether the suspect bears any criminal responsibility.
