Patrizia Reggiani, 77, is being treated in the intensive care unit of the Infermi Hospital in Rimini after falling ill in recent days while on holiday in Riccione. The former wife of Maurizio Gucci was staying at a hotel on the Perla Verde coast with her assistant when she was taken ill late Monday morning.
According to initial accounts, the woman was on the terrace of her suite at the time. Among the possibilities being considered is that the episode may have been triggered by the heat and prolonged sun exposure, though medical tests will be needed to determine the exact cause. After her assistant raised the alarm, hotel staff called for emergency medical assistance. Reggiani was then rushed to the Infermi Hospital, where she remains under close medical supervision. Her prognosis remains guarded, although her clinical condition is said to have shown signs of improvement in recent hours.
Patrizia Reggiani became a well-known figure in Italian crime reporting over the murder of her former husband, Maurizio Gucci, who was killed in Milan in 1995. Arrested as the mastermind behind the killing, she was later sentenced to 26 years in prison and was released in 2016 after serving roughly 17 years.
Her story returned to international attention in 2021 with Ridley Scott’s film “House of Gucci,” in which she was portrayed by Lady Gaga.
