With the papal visit now concluded, the Secretariat of State for Territory and Environment has extended its thanks to all those who worked behind the scenes to prepare San Marino and ensure the event unfolded safely.
The first acknowledgement goes to the State Autonomous Public Works Authority (Azienda Autonoma di Stato per i Lavori Pubblici), which spent the preceding weeks carrying out maintenance work, urban decor improvements and preparations along the route of the papal procession. This effort, the Secretariat notes, “made it possible to present the Republic at its best, worthy of an event of such international significance.”
Thanks were also extended to the Civil Protection Service volunteers and the Volunteer Union (Unione Volontariato), who took part in the plan drawn up to manage security and emergency response. The volunteers provided staffing at key posts, health and hygiene assistance, and information for the public at the various locations involved in the visit.
“This was work carried out with professionalism and a spirit of service,” the statement reads, “confirming a model of volunteering that is a source of pride for our Republic.”
The Secretariat concluded by expressing its gratitude to everyone involved in the organisation: “Serving one’s country also means this: being present, with competence and dedication, before, during and after major events. To all those who contributed, the gratitude of our Institutions goes out.”
