It will be Giuseppe Cederna who closes the 2026 edition of San Marino TeatrOUT, the festival dedicated to open-air theatre. The event is set for Thursday, August 6 at 9pm at the Luigi Capicchioni Amphitheatre in Chiesanuova, where the actor will stage “Maestri. Storie, poesia, incontri, illuminazioni” (“Masters. Stories, Poetry, Encounters, Illuminations”), a show he both wrote and performs.
Joined on stage by Matteo Castellan on keyboard and accordion, and by Nicola Testa on guitar, Cederna will lead the audience on a journey weaving together words and music, recounting the authors, places and encounters that have shaped his personal and artistic path. The narrative moves through poetry and literature, drawing on Walt Whitman, Giuseppe Ungaretti, Konstantinos Kavafis, Emily Dickinson and Chandra Livia Candiani, before touching on Homer’s Mediterranean, the monasteries of the Himalayas and the landscapes of Valtellina.
The show alternates literary passages, personal memories and reflections on the craft of acting, aiming to offer a moment of shared reflection and a rediscovery of the value of words. Live music accompanies the entire performance, helping to create an ongoing dialogue between storytelling and musical atmosphere.
A leading figure in Italian cinema and theatre, Giuseppe Cederna is best known to audiences for his role in Gabriele Salvatores’ film “Mediterraneo”, which won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1992. Throughout his career he has worked with directors such as Ettore Scola, Mario Monicelli, Marco Bellocchio, Gianni Amelio and the Taviani brothers, combining his film work with an intense career in theatre and literature.
