San Marino championship: Folgore surges alone into the lead, first smiles for La Fiorita and Pennarossa

Falciano's side beat San Marino Academy 2-0 to stay top with a perfect record, while La Fiorita and Pennarossa celebrate their first wins of the season.

Folgore keep on running and, for at least one night, take sole possession of the top spot in the San Marino Championship. In the fourth round, the Falciano side beat San Marino Academy 2-0 to remain on a perfect record. Meanwhile, La Fiorita and Pennarossa both picked up their first wins of the season, coming from behind to do so.

At the “Federico Crescentini” stadium, Folgore started strongly, and after chances created by Ura and a post hit by Augusto Garcia Rufer, they broke the deadlock shortly after the half-hour mark through Augusto, his third goal of the campaign. In the second half, Ricci’s side came close to doubling their lead on several occasions, while the match grew heated with red cards shown to Montali for Academy and De Nicolò for Folgore. The final 2-0 arrived in the 92nd minute through Raschi, who headed home from a Pierri assist.

In Acquaviva, Andy Selva had reason to celebrate as he secured his first win as La Fiorita coach. Domagnano went ahead in the 42nd minute through Simone Santi, but La Fiorita changed gear in the second half. Serges struck the post, and on the rebound Fusco unfortunately deflected the ball into his own net for the 1-1 equalizer. In the 87th minute, another own goal followed: Perazzini attempted a back-pass from midfield without noticing Maggioli’s positioning, and the ball went straight into the net. La Fiorita went on to win 2-1, with Bonetti also hitting the crossbar late in the game.

Pennarossa also celebrated their first joy of the season, beating Fiorentino 3-1 after three consecutive defeats. The rossoblù went ahead first through Del Frari, but Costantini’s side reacted immediately. Mema equalized, before Luca Evaristi completed the comeback with a long-range strike deflected by Del Frari himself. Belward sealed the win with the 3-1 goal.

In the closing stages, Calderone and Pintore were both sent off. Pennarossa thus claimed their first three points of the season, while Fiorentino remain stuck on four. At the top of the table, meanwhile, Folgore move alone to 12 points, as the remaining fixtures of the fourth round are still to be played.
